How to Become Self-Motivated

Step #1 - You need a Goal

Passion fuels motivation you have to have the 'Want to' attitude. If you are bored at work you need to think of something you can work on that will get you excited - a project - a goal. Something that will benefit you - something that will benefit others.

If the home life or relationship is getting stagnant focus your attention to make some changes - rearrange the house or pick up a new hobby you can do with your partner or plan a small get away. When you are focusing on a goal, focus on only one goal at a time.

We have so many things going on in our every day life that we sometimes tend to set aside our goals or try to take on completing more than one goal at time and with frustration lose focus.

Remember when you have a thought like - "I'd really like to ____" You need to write this down - for two reasons.

1. If you try to focus on more than one goal at a time you are not devoting your full attention to complete either.
2. By writing down your thought or additional goal you would like to accomplish you can set this aside knowing that you won't forget and then pick up on that thought later when you are finished with what you are doing.

My self motivation comes easy for me. I'm a writer so all I need to do is pick up any piece of paper and start reading! Everyone has an opinion so my mind starts whirling with information I'd like to share to help others and then off I go on a writing rampage putting all my thoughts on paper for you.

You also may know of an easy way like this to motivate yourself - or maybe you've discovered it before but didn't make mental note that this got your blood cells rushing and brain shifted to high gear. If you haven't noted it before, think of this the next time you get motivated. What motivated you?

Step #2 - You need to keep yourself Energized

So let's say that you have a goal in mind but lack enthusiasm and inspiration.

• Think of how you might be successful as you accomplish your goal. Visualize the outcome.
• Talk to others about your goal you'll get some great Ideas from them or this will trigger ideas of your own to come to the surface.
• Post you goal written down somewhere so that you will run into it throughout the day to bring your busy thoughts back to your goal thoughts.
• Research how others have accomplished this goal and see if you can generate some additional ideas.
• Make notes
• Start your project
• Don't try to jump levels start at the beginning and work your way up.
• Keep your mind on the benefits of the outcome
• Apply positive thinking skills - if negative thoughts come into your mind immediately dispel them and return to the positive thoughts.

Okay with this article goal out of the way I can move onto that next goal on my notepad. See how that works! I hope this gets you motivated and starts those engines. Have fun and stay stress-free.
