The Roller Coaster of Change

I can still remember the first time I stepped up to a roller coaster. I was shaking like a leaf. My heart began to race...just looking at all of the twists, loops and turns made my stomach do the same. A little voice inside of me kept whispering that I must take that first initial step...if I was ever going to conquer my fears.

The decision to make a career change or to create your own business can be easily compared to that of embarking on the greatest roller coaster ride of your life.

Twists, Loops and Turns

As with embarking on a roller coaster, the journey of change will be filled with twists, loops and turns. Your determination, patience and perseverance will be challenged and tested. There will be accomplishments and defeats. You may second guess your decision to move in a different direction. Your fortitude to achieve your goal must supersede any obstacles and doubts you may encounter along the way.

The Inability to Look Behind You

Do you remember how it was virtually impossible to look behind you while your roller coaster cart was ripping through all of the uncertain twists, loops and turns? The speed and the velocity of the ride made it impossible to turn your head around and look behind you. The ability to set your sights exclusively on what lies ahead, and never look back...is one of the most important aspects of adapting to change.

Reaching the Highest Peak

You've reached the plateau...the absolute highest point the roller coaster is able to take you. The cart is ready to plunge into a high speed descent. There is a quiet second of pause. As you gaze around, you are able to see for miles. Our big beautiful world surrounds you. The view is clear and endless.

The Final Descent

The roller coaster finally plunges to its' final destination. The twists, loops and turns are finally behind you. Suddenly you realize you have just experienced the most uncertain yet rewarding ride of your life. Confidently, you disembark the roller coaster a much stronger person. You have conquered your fears of change. As you look ahead of you, you see freedom, wide open spaces...and a future that will be fashioned and tailored in your own manner...on your own terms.
